RIP Raybans

Too early to break out the rainbows? Definitely NOT. i <3 my rainbow sandals, which show in the shape that they are in right now- a hole developing and the stitching is coming unstitched, haha.It was a bit chilly when I went to class this morning so I wore a lightweight button down over this purple shortsleeve shirt. It really was perfect because it was a little bit windy! I love this bright yellow color of the bag here so I paired it with this outfit- very springy!. I had two tests today and they both went realllyyyy well! So glad to have those OUT of the way! Today was SOOO nice out- after class i went to this beach thats down the street from my place to take some pictures for class. I was wearing my favorite sunglasses ever (raybans) and they were in the way of taking pictures so I put them down on a rock and did not walk far from them at all! This group of kids walked by and they stopped abruptly in front of the rock, looked over at me and started walking the way they just came from. I didn't think anything of it at the time but i realized, after returning to the rock that I left them on, they were gone. They were the only people that walked by while i was there and i was only there for less then 10 minutes!!! i checked in and all around that rock and they were nowhere...Of course i don't know for sure that the kids took them but....i know they didn't float away. grr- why couldn't I have been wearing a cheap-o pair of sunnys that I don't care about!I think I got some good pictures though, so, there ya go.
Off to eat and work on some drawings- stay tuned. :)

REORGANIZE!!

*so serious*

I had class at 8 am this morning so when I was awake and getting ready it was very cold out- however, as the day went on it was absolutely GORGEOUS out!! I am a bit upset that i wasted a day of nice weather on an outfit that is meant for cold weather. I like the features of the white shirt that I am wearing as it has a front connecting pocket and also a hood-I found it yesterday during the big clean! I paired it with this purple long sleeve shirt for some color, as its quite apparent i LOVE bright colors. I wore black pants paired with these teal boots with a very short heel, almost wouldn't even call it a heel (manageable for walking around campus)
I have 2 tests tomorrow and considering I spent all of yesterday procrastinating and re-organizing my room, i need to go study my face off! However, I am very excited because all of my drawers and closets are VERY neat and organized- my closet is even categorized including sections such as 'button-downs' 'sweaters' 'blazers'and a whole closet dedicated to dresses- let's see how long I keep it that way. I threw out some clothing yesterday which I was proud of because I usually hang onto EVERYTHING- i didn't bother giving it to goodwill because nobody would want what i threw away- clothing that was trashed from wear and tear- god only knows why i've kept it this long. Actually I found this white shirt that I am wearing in the bottom of one of my drawers- how perfct.

More Pencil and Color

*I don't like her sunglasses at all, i really messed them up. I'll fix them on the pencil drawing*

*I was trying to make the brown covering appear to be leather, unfortunately i failed*

I spent some more time last night drawing and ended up with these four drawings- like before I drew them in pencil, copied them over in black pen and tried out some color/pattern techniques. They turned out differently then I was envisioning, but what can you do. I use proart graphite pencils- i have prisma color pencils for drawing but they arn't as good. For color i use a mix of prisma color premier colored pencils, staedtler pigment pens and kimberly water color pencils. When I use markers I prefer to use chartpak (chartpak blender is the love of my life) although i have a lot of prisma color markers as well- i find that the chartpack have a much smoother finish to them and don't run out and fade as quickly. The great thing about using colored pencil with a blender is that you can get great detail and different colors with the colored pencil but smooth it over using the blender to give it a marker looking finish.,
Anyway- its so nice out today but i have a lot of studying to do- two tests on tuesday and a lot of work in between plus my room is messy and i can't start studying until its clean. This means that, unfortunately, i can't go enjoy the nice day to its max. potential. Sundays.... ugh. I might do one of those BIG cleans- like where you take everything out of your drawers, closet, etc. go through it, pick out the things I don't wear to get rid of (yah right, like that'll happen) refold and put away- its a big task but I think its going to happen.
My parents are back from Florida and they had a really great time- i can't wait to see them, i REALLY have missed them!! My sister is doing a lot better today. She experienced anaphlactic shock which is a life-threatening allergic reaction and was sent to the hospital. thank god she is doing alright today. I had an emotional night last night where my mind drifted into all of the what-ifs, even though I told myself not to do that. My sister is the most amazing person and I just love her so much.
off to clean, do homework and check in with my distractions, facebook, texts, emails, etc. from time to time.

goodday.badnight.

I went snowboarding today and it was so beautiful out. I regretted wearing the purple longsleeve shirt underneath the pinkster because it was SO hot- also regretted wearing the hot chillis under the ski pants. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot I saw my uncle fly over the mountain in his helicopter then land right in the parking lot that I was in. Neither of us had any idea that the other would be there so it was very cooL! We skied a couple of runs together and he also got a little bit of film footage of me snowboarding as he does ski patrol for the mountain occasionally. I was really glad that I got to meet up with him! I love moments in life like that. DUring the day I met some really great people, as I generally try to do since I have been snowboarding soloton lately. I met a couple of cool girls, one of which knew somebody that i knew from nantucket which is just so weird- can't help but constantly find myself thinking, what a small world. I skiied with a women today for a while who was really cool- she owns an interior design business and she was just very down to earth and a good skiing buddy. she went to CU boulder, so we reflected back on the amazingness of west coast mountains and at the end of the day got yelled at my a mountain employee for going down a trail that was closed off for a race all day but the race was over so it seemed legit and thought it had reopened, i guess not....oops.
When I got home I got some bad news from brother. It's quite a long story that I don't want to spill all over my blog and won't get into but my sister had to be rushed to the hospital today and THANK GAWD she is ok now but it TRULY puts so many things into perspective. So many stupid, LITTLE things that I concern myself with on a daily basis and things that I stress about like schoolwork and the future, blahh blahh- they all have no relevance with the big picture of life where the ONLY thing that is extremely important is that I have my family, all of them and that they all be healthy and happy and that i do everything in my power to make sure that that happens and continues to happen. Life is nothing to take for granted and we are silly to think that we are invincible to tragedy because we're not. I cherish and love my family more than humanly possible and the mere thought of anything ever happening to any of them is unfathomable- i am so lucky that I have managed to sail through life thus far without terrible tragedy but it wont always be that way.

AFTER- With Color

Here are the finished products. Again, the quality is not very good at all due to having scanned them onto my computer and having to sort of darken them. urh. As mentioned before, I simply copied my pencil drawing with my scanner then traced that onto marker paper to try some things out so that I wouldnt mess up the originals.
I am pleased with the outcome, in person. The digital computer version here really is not that great :(
ANYWAY- can't believe its almost 1 am and i've been drawing for eight hours.... I'm starting now to try to build a strong portfolio for when I graduate and head off looking for a CAREER.
I'm going snowboarding tomorrow- woo :) wa waaaaachusetteee
[i think i'm supposed to write something like, don't steal my drawings, ahha- who would, i know.]

BEFORE- Pencil drawings

I have been drawing since I got home from the sewing lab today at around 5 pm. OH I draped a dress (just in muslin fabric) and...part of this weird shirt that I am trying to create...we'll see where that goes.... But anyway- the quality of these pencil drawings is pretty poor because I scanned them onto my computer and had to darken them. After I drew these in pencil I copied them then traced them onto marker paper in order to try out some techniques with color. I did not want to mess up the original pencil drawings so that's why I copied, re-traced, etc. and why it has taken THIS long.Andd they are really large figures so the whole body didn't fit so the shoes are missing :(
[again--- I think i'm supposed to write something to protect the rights to my drawings- so uh, ye, don't steal :) ]

the BUCK stops here

This beauty was given to me for as a gift for my birthday by my brother Kyle. He hit it pretty spot on, huh?? I died when i saw the image/text that was on it- it was perfect. I am TOTALLY against hunting and could go on and on as to why i disagree with the """""""SPORT""""""".I think it is absolutely hilarious that he got this at JCPENNY- this is a real, legit sweatshirt ladies and gentlemen. I can totally picture this on a little chubby 4 year old boy that doesn't know any better as his father(or mother, sarah palin) is placing a shotgun in his hand showing him how to aim at a deer. If you can't read the text it says, "THe Buck Stops Here" with a bulls eye on a dear. Of course I am wearing it just jokingly because its just one of those things that is fitting for me, like wolves howling at moons. I am going into the sewing lab today to drape a dress so I definitely wanted to be comfortable so this outfit was put together with that in mind- and I had to showcase the wonderful gift that Kyle got me.
