I had never heard of a silent disco before i met our, now dear, british friends who introduced the idea to our little island of nantucket. Check out the concept, very cool- basically everyone wears a set of headphones and there are 2 stations, A and B with 2 seperate DJ's playing on each station and you can switch back and forth between the two. basically everyone is dancing but it looks all crazy because people are listening to different music. Since nantucket is so small and at times there are limited 'going out spots, deciding between slip 14, straight wharf and toby's- agh i am being close minded, there are plenty of bars but are they really all that fun? (no)- this silent disco threw a wrench in the nantucket night life that must have had the white panted, pearl necklaced women appauled. But I suppose anything that doesn't involve sipping veueve cliquot at the boarding house with a shawl draped over our backs is appauling. OK_ i'll stop hating now- i am not usually one to be judgemental but sometimes being on nantucket its tough not to be- i always wonder if these rich women really actually carry nantucket lightship baskets (or faux) around on the mainland- i certainly have never seen one. ANYWAY- this silent disco was a success, very fun and i took photos at it- although the flash died in the beggining i managed to get some shots- :)
